1. Who we are
Judge Hoot ("the app") is operated by Life is a pitch UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Graefestr. 40, 10967 Berlin, Germany. By creating an account or using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. The court is a comedy
Judge Hoot is an entertainment app. Verdicts are generated by an AI and are satire — they are not legal, medical, psychological, or relationship advice, and they may be wrong, unfair, or absurd on purpose. Do not make decisions about your relationship, finances, or anything else that matters based on a ruling from a cartoon owl.
The court refuses serious cases. Disputes involving abuse, safety, health, or similar topics are dismissed and pointed to real resources. If you or someone else is in danger, contact your local emergency services.
3. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be at least 16 years old to use Judge Hoot.
- Provide accurate information and keep your login credentials safe.
- One account represents your couple; one subscription covers both partners. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
- Only submit content about your partner that they are comfortable with.
4. Subscriptions and billing
- Judge Hoot Pro is an auto-renewing subscription (weekly or yearly), purchased through your Apple Account. The exact price is always shown in the app before you buy.
- Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Apple charges the renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- Manage or cancel in your device settings: Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under their terms — request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. Statutory withdrawal and consumer rights remain unaffected.
- Use "Restore Purchases" in the app to re-apply an active subscription.
5. Your content
You keep all rights to the content you submit — testimony, evidence media, and the rest of your dirty laundry. You grant us the license needed to operate the service: storing your content, processing it to generate verdicts, syncing it between both partners, and — only if your couple opts in — displaying shared verdicts in the public docket.
You are responsible for what you submit. Do not upload content you have no right to share, and do not share another person's private information.
6. Court rules of conduct
The public docket is a shared space, and the court has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior. In particular, you may not post content that:
- Harasses, threatens, or degrades any person or group
- Contains hate speech, discrimination, or incitement to violence
- Is sexually explicit, exploits minors in any way, or is otherwise illegal
- Reveals someone's private information without their consent
- Impersonates another person or misrepresents who you are
- Is spam, advertising, or content designed to manipulate votes
The app provides tools to report content and block users. Reported content is automatically hidden pending review. We may remove any content and suspend or terminate any account that violates these rules, at our discretion and without prior notice.
7. Acceptable use
- No scraping, automated access, or circumventing rate limits
- No reverse engineering or interfering with the operation of the service
- No attempts to access other users' data or accounts
8. Intellectual property
The app, the owl, the courtroom, the artwork, and all other Judge Hoot content and branding belong to us or our licensors. These terms give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the app; they transfer no ownership.
9. Termination
You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time from inside the app. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (content licenses for already-shared public content, liability limits, governing law) survive.
10. Disclaimers and liability
The app is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, we are liable without limitation only for intent and gross negligence, and for injury to life, body, or health. For slight negligence we are liable only for breaches of essential contractual duties, limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract. Your statutory rights as a consumer remain unaffected.
11. Apple
The app is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to your download of the app, and Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms with the right to enforce them. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by German law. If you are a consumer residing in the EU, the mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected. The European Commission provides a platform for online dispute resolution at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app evolves. If a change is significant, we will notify you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
